2010 Workshops by Kathy Shamoun:

January 12, 2010 7pm – 9pm:

Huntington Women's Center~ Chinese Medicine in Everyday Life
125 Main St. Huntington, NY 11743

You may be feeling suspended, in a state of limbo, not quite ready to make a change but know that things can’t remain the same. Join Kathy tonight and learn how to give expression to certain emotions, move through emotional crises, and keep yourself from falling into the same harmful patterns through the use of the ancient art of Chinese Medicine. Chinese Medicine is more than just a system for treating disease. It is a holistic practice, akin to yoga or meditation, which integrates the mind, emotions, and spirit. Acupuncture points and herbs have psychological and spiritual indications aside from their physiological ones. Come find out how you can integrate them in your everyday life.

Cost: $15

February 12, 2010 7pm – 9pm:

Long Island Doula Association ~ Acupuncture in pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum
Inner Balance Yoga Studio 475 Main St. East Farmingdale, NY 11735

Chinese Medicine has been the primary care medicine in Asia for more than 3000 years. I'm often asked the question, “What does it help?" The short answer… EVERYTHING. This everything includes supporting fertility, managing threatened miscarriage, alleviating pregnancy woes, all the way to inducing labor and postpartum issues. Tonight I'm going to share some of the fundamentals of the philosophy of Chinese Medicine to better acquaint you with how it is that it can be applied so broadly. One of LIDA's members will have the opportunity to receive an acupuncture treatment from me this evening and the rest of you will have the rarer opportunity to witness a treatment. If you're considering volunteering, please come in comfortable clothes (ie, not jeans) that can be easily manipulated.

Cost: Members Free, Non-members $5
